Applied Global
Innovation Program
Empowering Entrepreneurs
Applied Global Innovation Program (AGIP) empowers young refugees and marginalized youth from host communities through a series of self-organized educational stages that focus on personal development, social entrepreneurship, and innovation.
intensive and multi-layered training
12 Months of Training
During the 12 months of AGIP training, participants undergo intensive, multi-layered training programs meant to assist them in transforming their concepts into viable businesses. The training process involves five key steps: the transformation stage, catalyst stage, venturing stage, acceleration stage, and legacy stage.
Stage one
Transformation
This is a 3-month training focusing on personal growth and breaking limiting beliefs, leading to holistic transformation.
stage two
Catalyst
Scholars learn through self-organization and gain skills in understanding community problems, target markets, and solutions.
stage three
Venturing
Scholars develop viable social enterprises through concentration bootcamps and practical business model development.
stage four
Acceleration
At this stage, scholars’ business concepts have matured, and the focus shifts to molding the ventures into legally compliant social enterprises.
stage five
Legacy
Here, the scholars achieve independence, continue to work on growing their enterprises, and join the GIV network as alumni or partners.
Launched Ventures
We first implemented AGIP in Kalobeyei refugee settlement and later expanded the program to Kakuma refugee camp due to the demand. Since its inception, we have seen impact through the number of social ventures created by our scholars. So far, about 15 ventures have been created. Among the most successful ones include:
Green at Mind
Green at Mind develops eco-friendly, space-saving desk cook stoves that transform everyday cooking into a smarter and more convenient experience. As an alternative to open fire, the products provide affordable cooking technologies that cook twice as fast.
Khalifast Fashion Design
Khalifast Fashion Design empowers vulnerable single mothers in Kakuma refugee camp by providing hands-on cloth tailoring training. The enterprise aims to equip single mothers with skills they need to create own job opportunities.
Imran Integrated Academy
Al-Imran Integrated Academy creates a sustainable and accessible learning environment that equips young refugees with the knowledge, skills, and mindsets needed to bridge educational gaps imposed by displacement and promote cultural exchange.
