About the micro-grant
The Alumni Chapter Challenge is a micro-grant administered by Global Innovation Valley to its alumni chapters with a common entrepreneurial idea that they passionately believe is the next game-changer in the lives of the people of Kakuma and Kalobeyei.
The primary purpose of the micro-grant is to spur entrepreneurship and ripple-effect economic activities within the Global Innovation Valley’s ecosystem.
The selection process will be rigorous and be based on innovativeness, viability, sustainability, and projected social impact of the venture to the local population. The micro-grant amount is between 10,000 KES and 50,000 KES. Multiple alumni chapters can win the micro-grant.
The Micro-grant Guidelines
Apply as a Chapter
The micro-grant is meant to collectively empower GIV alumni chapters. Therefore, it is required that you apply as a chapter. Individual applications will be rejected.
Grant Amount
The micro-grant amount ranges between 10,000 KES and 50,000 KES, depending on the submitted budget projections. Multiple chapters can win the micro-grant.
Expected Viable Ideas
The ideas must be feasible, viable, scalable, and sustainable. Even importantly, they must be addressing real-life challenges experienced by the people of Kakuma/Kalobeyei.
